Gentlemen, I know that this will have limited interest since most of you naturally want to use your stock rear bumpers. But, for those of you that want to go to the rally style overriders (bumperettes), I offer this project paper.

Works rally rear bumperettes

Happy new year!

Cheers,

Nice, Do the rounded corners (where you welded them back together) allow the rubber grommet to be manipulated into position?

Happy New Year to you also,
Nice mod there Steve. Man, those Cape brackets look very beefy. Did you design them to sheer in a collision? Seems like they would bend the heck out of the bumper outriggers in their original form.

Yes Randy, the rubber grommet will slip over it.

Steve

GregW, truthfully I didn't worry to much about a collision...the mounting irons are very beefy, so it will certainly handle a little rap..... given that the shroud is only a bit over an 1" away form the shroud I'd like the overriders to take the majority of a blow. I've never seen a old English car bumper that could handle a very substantial hit anyway. The goal was certainly to provide some protection....but, also to improve the visual appeal of the installation.

Cheers,
Steve

Outstanding website--keep up the great work.

Andrea, you have collected the most extensive pictures of works rally cars I have ever seen.....and I've looked at alot! I plan on studying them all!

Michael, thanks for the codos.... the website has become a second hobby! I'm always thinking about ways I can improve it.

Steve

Very nice Steve, creates a very nice period modification. Maybe you should send to Cape Int'l for modifying all their brackets?
BTW, always envious of those with the luxury of a hoist. Your car looks super!!!

Johnny, I have sent a note to Steve Norton, aka Cape Int'l with a link to my project paper.

Andrea, if you will send me an email (you can use the "Contact" menu item from my website to get to my personal email.... or scthomton@yahoo.com) with your home address, I'd be happy to send you a copy of the template I used for the side vents.
