Work, missed events, bad fuel pumps, radiator, etc

....Well, missed the ABFM this year with a dead fuel pump. darn. It didn't help that I got absolutely buried in short deadline projects at work from which only now am I resurfacing. It's turned into an annual ritual. No time to do much except worry about the job. Blood pressure up, peace of mind down.

Really p*ed me off.

So just as an update - I got the customized radiator back and reinstalled just before ABFM. Didn't realize what a pain in the rear the bottom radiator hose was to do. Bent up some brand new radiator fins fighting that battle.

Turn the key...engine turns, no start. Oh man, it's late Friday night before ABFM and the BE is being pissy. After realizing the pump was dead, I give up on the ABFM, get online, order a fuel pump and attempt to catch up on some work. Right.

Anyway, Fuel pump arrives. I install, no prob, car starts right up.

I prepare the for its maiden voyage with the new radiator. The radiator has 11 tubes more than stock. The core is about 1/2" thicker than original, and once I got it in and screwed down, I realized my fears of the core material setting too close to the fan were just plain stupid. I can fit a fist between the two.

Take the car on the road and it runs remarkably consistent. I'm running at 160F with 160F thermo under normal conditions, over no remarkable grades.

It was about 95 degrees outside on this particular day and so I pull in to my driveway and just let the car run. And run. And run, revving and basically trying to get the heat up. Hits 190 tops. Take her out again hitting the hills and we are hardly topping 175-180 on the longer, steeper hills.

Wow. What a difference. My overheating fears have subsided. If only ABFM would have been a week later!

Anyway, just wanted to check in with you all... Gotta get up early for the tail end of the ritual summer work rush - meeting with our vendors in India.

Yes, Bill, the bottom rad hose IS a pain in the neck to change out. Top one's not exactly a breeze, either! :cryin:

Good feeling to get 'em back on the road.

Keep us posted.
