Wool Trench/peacoat needed

TRMark said:
...I think wearing a pea coat while driving a LBC would be very "period" I had a pea coat in the early 70's, I assume I wore it my TR4....
That's all I wore through high school and much of college, during the late 1960s and early 1970s. It was my mom's (2nd Lieutenant, WAVES, WWII). It's still in her house somewhere, and I should look for it and see if it can still be worn. It might not fit me now....

I had a P-38 on my key chain for years but the thing kept jabbin' me in my leg. I don't know why i carried it. I hardly ever used it. I guess guess I watched too many Road Runner cartoons as a kid.

Not a big fan of the Walther P-38's. I don't have anything aaist them really, just don't like the plastic grips for some reason. The guy who gave me the Mauser had one and a PRISTINE 1939 matching number Mauser made Luger w/ no Nazi proofs on it. Never could get that from him. The Mauser he gave me is pristine as well. His dad brought all these back from WWII. My Mauser shoots REALLY nice.

I have Kelly's Dad's Korean war issue 1911 Colt dated to 1944 that is in EXCELLENT condition but it shoots like crap. (He had an Ithaca 1911 that my BIN has now.)Worst pistol I've ever shot (Colt). Might as well aim it at yourself if you want to hit anything but..

I don't know what kinda hat I'm after, so please, I'm open to suggestions. I've got a boonie hat, but want something to go w/ the coat. I do want the "Dr. Who" Tom what's-his-face scarf. That would be killer !!!! I can't remember his coat offhand, but that wouldn't be bad either. The one in the commercial is cool.

Silverghost, I'm looking to spend about $40 or so for a coat, so if anyone comes across something that would be great. I would prefer something longer like a trench coat so the heater can blow up it (no top on car) but a regular peacoat would be fine. I like the one I have, it just doesn't fit right. It's close, but when you reach up for the wheel it's a bit constricting.

"Period" is what I'm after, even if I have a '79. Gonna go RWA w/ my parts cars whenever I build that w/ a BE comming later on when I can pull it off.

Hey Doc, how close do they run to "regular" size? My 38R seems big for a 38, or I shrank (which I ASSURE you didn't happen!)

(P.S Happy B.DAY !)

Thanks guys !!!

It's well out of your price range (and mine!) but this wool coat is the one I most lust after.

Schott also makes pea coats, and they're the originators of the traditional leather motorcycle jacket. Again, all are pricey but well worth the expense. They're fantastically well made items.

Best hat I ever owned is a Greek fisherman's cap....my first one lasted 20-some years....got a new one for Christmas....made by Aegean https://greekfishermancaps.com/pricesText.html or a less expensive version here https://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/sto...amp;ci_sku=6873
Durn nice lookin caps there... My winter topper is a handmade plad wool cap similar to those. I got it in a little shop just outside of Bennington Vermont. I'd have to post a pic to show what it looks like. Our family gave them the name "Potato-famine hat" because they look like the hats you see the Irish immigrants wearing in all the old pics/ drawings from those times.

I saw some greek caps the other day and I do like them. I think I'm not ready for those yet. Gotta put a few more years on.

Silverghost, PM sent
