Women's inventive use of duct tape for repairs

My wife always has a roll of duct tape in "her" drawer
for making household repairs. Duct tape can fix anything.

I wish I had a camera today. A young woman was parked at
a stop light and something looked odd about her car. As
we crossed in the intersection, I saw the driver's door
had taken a good pounding smack in the middle.

The young lady has stretched duct tape across the huge
dent, a layered effect, and then spray painted the duct
tape to somewhat match her car.

A+ for her auto body repair effort.

Anyone know of other strange uses for duct tape?

My grandmother would repair the rusty gutters on the house with it. Have you seen the Mythbusters episode where they make a sailboat out of duct tape?

I'll bet nobody here has ever used duct tape on the inside to seal that leak in the convertable top.

Clint Eastwood in his movie "Grand Torino" starts a young neighbor off with the proper tools...WD40, visegrips, and duct tape...."That'll get you through just about anything."

(Steve, below...original 4a top, vinyl out/in, stick that duct tape on dry...got me through a N. Cal winter just fine back in college. Outside works also...but your self esteem lags slightly.)

Of course not. The duct tape goes on the outside. Otherwise the moisture hits the adhesive and dumps a puddle of water into the car as the tape falls off.

I had an old flannel shirt in which the seam going down the side had separated. I promptly patched it up with some duct tape, which worked out quite nice. I wound up throwing it in the wash, and after it came out, the "repaired with duct tape" seam was still hanging in there. As I continued to wear it and throw it in the wash, it kept coming out still intact. After what was probably 20-30 washes, my wife made me throw it out...it still had the duct tape on it.

Cut yourself in the garage & duct tape holds the skin together as good as stitches from a doctor.

For that I use krazy glue, well actually C.A. brand super glue. The reason superglue was invented.

Greg,
So true.. I take it on camping trips

I was working in a restoration shop years ago and while inspecting the chassis on a Rolls Royce we were painting I found the rotten sections had been covered with duct tape and then sprayed with undercoating!

As for women lint removal holding hair while setting and a undercup support on a strapless dress to name a few

Saw a video once on the engineering that goes into support devices in that area. Believe it or not, the video was on designing structures with a 25% overload factor built in! And I thought bridge building was tough!

Duct tape applications:

Convertible top patch -- check.
Cloth (car cover) repair -- check
Surrogate suture material -- check.

Th' stuff is a bit less-than structural so when those conditions are encounter'd I turn to wire coat hangers... and COVER with duct tape.

And Eastwood's movie was great, IMO.

Superglue and packets of honey... anybody want to guess why on the honey?

To keep the bears occupied while you run back to the car!

What you do in the privacy of your tent is your own affair and none of my business. Will we be seeing you on the cover of National Enquirer soon?

Honey doesn't spoil, is a natural antibiotic (to keep those wounds from getting infected), is a good source of energy if you need a boost, and when the bears find you they will appreciate the flavoring.

Lets see, smear honey on the superglue tube. When a bear comes to eat you, throw him the tube. When he bites it, his mouth gets glued shut.
