Surgery was this morning. I just brought Zoe home. She's not a very happy little camper.

Hope she'll be ok. I'm sure she'll be up and running before you know it.

In the same vein we got our first just over 3 years ago now from the pound. Took her to the vet for a checkover and came out $2k lighter. She had a lump that needed removing...

The kicker is the only reason we went to the pound is because I didn't want to pay $1500 for a pedigree. Given that she's lying on the sofa with her head in swmbos lap, I guess it was money well spent. Of course we have two now and the vet loves us.
 
Awww! Injuries heal so I'm sure she will be back to her old self soon.

Some [insert many really bad words here] person was speeding down our street recently and hit our cat. Didn't even stop. Our cat died instantly, which was probably for the best. If I ever track that person down, it's gonna get really ugly. I'm a very tolerant person, but not when someone is wreckless and causes my family pain. Gets my blood boiling just thinking about it. I don't like seeing someone I love cry.

I would spend whatever it takes to bring him back, just as you did what needed to be done to take care of your little friend. Kudos on you! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

~nods~ Zoe is crying and whining, I was laying on the floor with her. She looks at me like she's either cracked out on pain meds yet or REALLY TICKED OFF AT ME. Sort of like she maybe knows my voice but doesn't really 'see' me. Vet said to be sure to take her out tonight, they took her right before I came but she just cried and whined and didn't go (hasn't eaten or drank since 10pm Sunday night)

I tried to pick her up a couple times to take her out, she rolled away from me with that TICKED off look. Finally just now I got her up (must weigh 250#) and carried her out, nearly dropped her, she was squirming so (and I was carrying her exactly the way they showed me). Tried to 'prop' her up in the grass with no weight on that leg, she sat in the grass, then laid, then I couldn't get her up hardly at all. Finally got her up, didn't pee of course. Brought her back inside, put her in the kennel. (borrowed one for her re vet's suggestion for a few nights) HUGE, BIG mistake. I may never get her out of it again.

She's crying. I'm tired. I want to just give her the pain med now. I shouldn't have put her in the kennel, should have just carried her to our room and put her in her bed. ARGH. (and Chuck's gone til Thursday - fishing trip he was going to cancel, I insisted he go)
 
After our dog's surgery, he was the same way. Moving him toko two of us since he was about 120 pounds. He was really out of it and very unhappy for a few days. But a dog responds well to positive emotions, so he returned to himself in no time even if he was still in pain and drugged out a bit.

She isn't mad at you, that's for sure - she just hurts right now. I can't begin to guess how much $$$ we've spent on our "kids" over the years. "Without hesitation" nails it. God bless.

steve s, im sorry to hear about your cat, ive allways been a "flea-line" person myself ,luckily mine doest go in the street here, but he will lay in the driveway and not want to move when a car comes up, he expects one to drive around him after all he believes hes paying the mortgage, what makes it worse is that hes dark gray and at night you cant see him ive put a reflective collar on him but still hard to see em,i hate to think about how we would feel if my wife,son, or myself would run into him, the people that live across the street had a beautiful but dumb as a stump full bred expensive poodle that would run out in the street when i left for work every morning and id warned them about his behavior several times they were not worried at all it was soon after they told me that another neighbor had hit the dog and it was in poodle heaven, now everyone feels bad, i can relate to your anger at the nuckle head that didnt have enough humanity in thier soul to stop and see if anything could be done,and take responsibility for thier actions, again feeling sorry for your loss. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

She's still pretty punky-feeling. Hasn't really figured out how to walk on the cast yet, just tries to carry it and her leg. She's not eating well yet (turned down FISH from our dinner tonight), but did eat some cooked rice & ground beef (not going to do that again though, her teeth are fine, she can chew her regular food)

She's pottying okay, finally figured out how to 'squat.' Can tell she still 'hurts' though. But she doesn't have that 'I want to bite your face' look any longer. And Chuck's home, so that helped her dispostion immensely, she lives for that man.

I really like the vet that operated on her. He called Monday night about 9pm, a couple hours after I'd brought her home. Twice Tuesday, twice yesterday, and once today. That's more than I got from my surgeon when I had $30,000 worth of surgery on my elbow or when Chuck had his cancer surgery! I'm seriously considering changing vets, and I've been with ours for 20 years.
 
Thanks Anthony. I'm not mad at the person for hitting our pet, I'm mad that they were speeding down a residential street and obviously not paying attention. It could have easily been a child. We get a lot of school moms that blast down our street in massive SUVs twice per day. Just recently we saw one doing easily 50MPH while on the phone, turned around backwards yelling at a kid in the back seat. She travelled like this past about 15 houses on our small residential street! LOOKING BACKWARDS! ARGH!

I too find that our Vet treats our animals better than our Doctors treat us. Easier to get appointments, have little things seen to, generally friendlier and far more forthcoming and considerate...

I suppose the bedside manner improves when your patients can bite... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif
 
How about a speed bump, sleeping policeman, out front then you will have another parts sorce as well as something to do in the evening. Watching the cars go air borne.
