with Nov 11 almost upon us I hope this is ok

Puts a shiver down my spine and wells up my eyes, Will.

These kids... none more brave.

I went to our local Veterans Park today, to sit and have my lunch. No crowd, no activity. Peaceful. Sat in the area of the Iraqi Freedom memorial and thought about this latest generation.

Thanks for the link.

Thanks, you prompted me to do a little reading. About all we were taught about Canada in school is that it's north of the States.

And speaking of veterans (sorry a diversion from the nice story above), I just saw this shocking footage... disgusting tourists at the Tomb of the Unknown:

Geez Mark, I had no idea.
I was pretty small when I was there last
I plan on going in Dec. if time works out.
Thanks for the reminder

I suppose a tourist is a tourist... and maybe there will always be a few in a crowd that just don't understand. Still, I've seen kids running around at the Vietnam memorial (even with signs that parents should be reading). Both very somber and important places. Hope your trip to Arlington is a good one, Don. I've only been there 2 times (both as an adult) and it just amazes me.

Personally I don't know If I can emotionally handle it

I was that way at the Vietnam Memorial (which I was fortunate not to have to go but many buddies did). VERY powerful and I thought that any one of those names could have been me. Arlington was more powerful. The JFK gravesite was very very moving... but I wasn't prepared for walking down this narrow walk (south of it) to see a small grass field and one lone, simple, white cross for RFK. Very emotional.
