wishbone mounting bracket repair.

Upon removal of my front suspension components I discovered that the rear RH wishbone mounting bracket had been previously torn and not so cleanly repaired. I'm planning to get in there and fix it myself, but I'm looking for input about how I should best approach the repair.

As you can see in the photos, a patch of steel was welded in to fill the missing metal, but it was never ground/cleaned up, and the back side was left raw (I suspect those sharp edges did a number on the wishbone bushings). My question is, should I try and salvage the repair that was already done (weld over the seems in the back and grind flat), or fabricate and patch in a replacement for that entire half of the bracket (welded in along the frame and the shock mount).

Along those lines, the holes on the matching bracket on the LH side of the car are a bit elongated, and I'm debating similar repairs.

Today, you can get replacement brackets. When I had to have it done about 20 years ago, I had to salvage some good ones from a donor car.

Man that sucks! Luckily like Gerard said they're available new. I don't know who has them in the states but AH Spares has replacements for about $20 USD ea. I think this is what you need.Link

Haha, I guess I don't need to post across multiple forums ;)

thanks guys!
