I have just (almost) completed the rewiring of my Alpine. I am having trouble with the Wipers. There are two wires coming from the wiper motor, in addition the the ground wire. Do both wires go to the switch? Also does anyone know what the small tube like thing is that goes from the front to the top of the motor?

Check to see if your car has the "auto stop" feature (most cars do). Its part of the wiper mechanism itself and basically acts as a "second switch." When you turn the main switch off, the wipers continue to go until they are in the park position. At that point, the "second switch - usually a blade-type mechanism attached to the wiper inkage (probably behind the firewall with the rest of the wiper linkage) will open and shut the motor off. Its what causes the wipers to park in the right spot. Usually its adjustable somehow too. I'm not familiar with Sunbeams, but most car work with a similar mechanism.

I had to rewire my wiper motor. Now it works but it stops where it is when I flip the switch. Did the Series I have the auto stop feature or do I just time my turning off the wipers to the right time.
 
Be thankful that you have no automatic park. On my Mini back in 1969, the wiper gears seized (lots of grease in the box except where it was needed), and if I had no been able simply to turn off the switch I might have had a fire, or at least a burned-out motor. It is/was no trouble to learn to operate the switch at the correct instant.

It sounds as you have a later wiper motor. Both wires go to the switch however to operste right you must have the proper sequence . If you only get one speed than you must reverse the two wires to have high and low wiper speed
