I am replacing the wiring on my Sprite after removing it back in '73. I don't recall where to put the wires that go forward from the trunk. Does the harness go between the fender and the inner panel or does it stay on the trunk side?

The painting was just finished last week and the fun of putting it all back together is just beginning. This summer I'll be back on the road after 37 years. I'm drooling in expectation.

Someone here showed a routing inside the lower sill that looks like a good way to go as long as you use grommets and keep panel edges from cutting wiring.
 
Most important is to avoid places where chafing could occur, eventually going though the wire insulation. The original design was often pretty bad in this respect. Especially those brain-dead metal tabs that just bend over the cable to hold it in place. Don't be afraid to use more sensible cable clamps and ties where warranted, extra heat-shrink tubing, and so on. You can get all this stuff from any electronics store, or maybe even places like Harbor Freight.
 
When I pulled my original harness I was surprised at all the places that the fabric had been frayed and worn. I started to tape the worn areas but decided to just buy a new harness and get a totally fresh start. With all the other new parts what was the sense in keeping something of questionable quality.
 
Where you go through the body openings slit rubber hose down the center and fit onto metal edge with weather gasket cement. this will help cutting of wire, plus I am placing my wire into the coiled tube you can buy at parts houses. one piece front to rear

Some of them did, and some set fire to the car well before that time. You can take chances and win, of course, probably more often than not. It's the times you lose that are what you nee to worry about.

My house has been in place since 1929, and has never burned to the ground, but I still buy fire insurance.
