Thanks guys ,i have them all in and they seem to work,i can't get the dash lights to work ,markers lights are working so i assume i have something not attached correctly
terry
I have had the small gauges lit up ,tach and speedo no joy I have one power wire red to the dimmer switch ( is that a rheostat ?) and a double Two wire red and white which i believe powers the small gauges And a single red and whit which i assume powers the tach and speedo lamps I am wondering if the dimmer is faulty
No tach and speedo light.....I figured it was something like that.
Do you have the black ground wires with ring terminals (eyelets) under the knurled nuts and on top of a spade clamp that holds those 2 gauges onto the metal fascia.
That would be #'s 29 and 38 on the schematic which I provided earlier.
i thought i had sent a answer to this -didn't get posted ? I have the new wooden dash down while i ensure all the wires and gauges are properly wired . All the grounds are attached to the Tach & speedo . I am thinking they will not have ground until i attach the wooden dash to the steel frame--I am on the road for a number of days will have another look when i return home
Thanks
terry
Well, you did say you had it 'figured out'..but since the lamps for those 2 gauges are not working something is still lacking.
Those 2 gauges should be placed into the dash after the wooden dash is installed; however,
it's the physical contact of the metal shovel type clamp TRF # 620847 with the metal fascia that creates the ground for the tach and speedo lamps.... assuming the black wire with the eyelet is secured under the knurled nut AND that you have the battery grounded to the body.
I have reinstalled gauges exactly as I removed them, when I dropped the dash the tach and speedo came along- as I said I am away and will revisit when I return-- when one requests help from this form we should be prepared for very answer
Let me try phrasing this differently
You can remove the wooden dash leaving the small gauges in the metal fascia , BUT the 2 large gauges must either come out before the wooden dash is removed or along with it. They cannot remain in the metal fascia like the small gauges while removing the wooden dash and by the same token, you can not put the wooden dash back onto the metal fascia if the 2 big gauges have been put back in the metal fascia prior to installing the wooden dash.
The lamps that illuminate the 2 big gauges are grounded as I have tried to explain...metal to metal contact between the shovel clamps that hold the gauges in place and the metal fascia
The black wire's eyelet for the lamps ground is in metal to metal contact with the shovel clamp and therefore also the metal fascia
The metal fascia is a part of the body that is grounded by the negative battery cable.
If you have all that and power to the lamps socket's red/white wires, the bulbs if not burned out will illuminate.
