Spitfire Wiring Diagram 64 Spit

Went over the car this weekend and looks like I have my work cuto out for me. Banjo can atest to this. Of course I have electrical gremlins and want to chase them away before I put it on the road.
I have a Chilton for a wiring diagram and have been looking on line but have not found much on the early spits. Can any one point me in the right direction for a reliable schematic? Thanks in advance...

I used to have one, but it went away when I had to move my web sites. I will try to locate and repost that sometime later this evening.

Thing is, there was only one place I've ever found the "correct" wiring diagram for early Spitfires sent to the US, and that was in the original Owner's Manual that came with the car. Even the factory Workshop Manual never had a US-specific wiring diagram otherwise, and I suspect currently available owner's manual reprints are of the home market version. The wiring is different, albeit not drastically so.

If you've a specific question, toss it up here. Probably 97% + of the wiring is pretty much as any other Triumph!

I found a very helpful color diagram on the spitfire GT6 mag website for my 79".
Unfortunately I just looked and it does not seem to go much past 75".
There may be a link that could shed some light (pun intended).

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

:iagree:Those early cars were so basic that there wasn't a lot of choice. Some variation in where the wires run, of course, and where the connectors are located, but the basic wiring is the same. The later "emissions" cars were where it started going wonky with 3 different diagrams for every year.

Thanks for the heads up. I dont have specific questions as of yet. I just wanted to get a copy to sit and study a little. As time goes on and the questions start coming up...You guys will be the first people I ask. Thanks!

Hmm, looks like it's worse than you thought, Andy. The Spit Mk2 diagram is there, but all the others aren't.

Don't see the key for the Spit diagram either (although it's not really necessary).

There's this on ebay, natch,
370173958569

and if you look for wiring diagrams in the search engine, there is a fella that makes full color large prints of diagrams. I saw him at Carlisle, and they are really nice.

Having said that, I seem to remember a really early book in my stash that showed up somehow. Lemme go check tonight when I get home.

Yep. Gotta talk to my provider about more space; I couldn't reload the herald diagrams without exceeding my current space limit. :wall:

It's there, right below the diagram itself.

Not for me. All I see is a text line:
<IMG SRC="spitkey.jpg" WIDTH="1652" HEIGHT="1087" ALIGN="BOTTOM" ALT="Key to wiring dia

which looks as though the last few characters are missing.

BTW, Andy, there are several web sites around that will give you space for "free" (advertising supported). Not as nice as having your own, but might be an option if your ISP wants too much money. One such is Photobucket

Yes, very nice for the home market cars...but not totally helpful for the early cars built for the US market. In particular, the lighting switches are different and serve different functions. Granted, that might be about the only area where there are significant differences, but working on the light switch circuits without the correct diagram can be frustrating.

It's shows on mine Randall. You using FF?
Nope, Internet Exploder. Don't recall why offhand, but I uninstalled FF on this machine for some reason.

Looks swell, Andy.

Interesting that they added a fuse for the main headlights. The extra brown wire for the "flash to pass" feature seems a bit unusual too. I guess that was so if the fuse blew, you could hold the stalk to keep the headlights on until you found a place to park ?
