Can anyone tell me what these wires are supposed to be for? They are in the area of the washer fluid bottle but connect to nowhere. I think that they were on the original wiper fluid unit but not sure. The ends have blade type connectors on the end. The car is a 1970 MGB.
Thanks,
Al

It goes from the wiper control switch to the washer pump...
it's highlighted in green by me...

I'm not sure where those wires are supposed to go, but I'd definitely tape them off to prevent accidental grounding until the correct location for it to plug into. If it were next to the firewall/bulkhead I might have guessed it went to the anti-run-on valve, but it's in the wrong area of the engine bay for that.

Advance Auto Wire(<-- link to their site) has a downloadable PDF file that covers the wiring schematics for all the different revisions of the MGB. It's by far the best one I've had the pleasure of seeing and using for trouble shooting my car's electrics. One of the best features is the schematics are in color. I'd grab it and see if I can figure out where that wire is supposed to go.

Hope this Helps

bah... kenny beat me to it I guess....

By a good 5 minutes - hehehehehe

that's what I get for taking my time with my post... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I found similar wires near my washer bottle but they are not for that. I have a manual pump. I pump the button on the dash a few times & it builds up pressure to squirt out washer fluid. No electric here at all.
After I found this and could not get the wipers to work, I figured I'd be on the lookout for a knob that I would have to turn back & forth to wash the windscreen. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks for the quick reply. Kenny I will check out the wirering tonight.
Thanks All

No MGB ever had "blade type" connectors - DPO has struck again!

what about the fuse block Tony?

My car has several blade connectors.

Okay - other than there, horns, temp sensor & distributor, there weren't blade connectors behind dash, under the car, in trunk, or around the heater box...should've made myself a bit clearer
