Drooling can be used for a spit shine.

Only three wheels???

Three? Those are all pictures of the same wheel!

Actually, not wanting to be accused of doing anything halfway, I bought five (5)

I ordered the tires tonight from The Tire Rack, so they'll be here Thursday. It's been a long time, but I'm going to try and mount them by hand; we'll see how that goes...

Beautiful!
What tires did you get?
Will your spare have a spinner on it to. We'll let you slide if you don't, Mr. Halfway

Kuhmo-somethings; 195/65 non-directional (to allow rotating them).

Since the spare in a 2-seater is so prominent, I did clean up & coat my former right-rear splined hub to fit into the spare. Before the days of readily available reproduction parts (or before I could afford them...) it was considered prudent to keep an extra r/r hub with you, as it was most likely to fail. Though I have seen front hubs fail too; terrible noise when braking, and quite comical to see the spinner stationary with the car/wheel still moving! I haven't yet ponied up for the fifth (5th) 3-eared spinner though (even at my vendor cost, they're still pricey).

You guys are a tough crowd

Okay, three wheels is only going 75% of the way so that makes five wheels going 25% over the 100% mark which is by far much better than "halfway". You da man!!

I bought 72 spoke chrome for regular use. My original 60 spoke painted need work. A few spokes need to be replaced, and then they need to be blasted and painted. Fortunately, the splines are still pretty good, so if I ever entered the car for judging I could use the original wheels cleaned up.

Randy-

Are these considered center lace wheels? What size, 15X5.5 ? They look great.
Myself, as well as many others refer to them as center-laced, but Dayton lists them as well-laced (being in the deepest, or well part of the rim.

They are 15 x 6, and listed as OE for the AC Cobra (small-block 260-289), Dayton pt no is D464.

Thanks! I got the hubs, rotors and dust-free front pads mounted last night. This morning I picked up some valve-stems and the installation tool. I just came in to verify the "sidewall dots" versus rim location on the first tire I mounted on the rim (by hand). A slight bit of struggling, but ZERO marks on the rim, so it's doable and I'm happy.

One (1) down and four (4) to go...

I'm off to the local Tireman, to see if they'll seat the beads on the two (2) unruly tires/rims, and then MOAR Pictures!

well it still laying on the board...if it had been me it would be half way down the street by now...don't know bout cats but lots a litter buckets!!

Randy..looking good can't wait to see them on the car...

Good God! how many cats do you have?
So the ratchet strap didn't help with the beads?
Just two (2) but I save the buckets to put seed (for the birds) and corn (for the ducks) in. The two (2) buckets on the right are empty, awaiting a new purpose in their lives.

Nope, the strap didn't help, just wanted to buckle the tread.

Yes, some days are like that for me too, but everything else was going okay, so the beads not acting right didn't set me off.

And now, the moment we've all been waiting for, I know I have!

The wheels and the car look sharp! I see the snow hadn't gotten there yet when you took the pictures.

Besides a 2 spoke difference, what exactly is the difference between 72-spoke and 70-spoke wire wheels?

Thanks! It's here now... :frown:

The biggest difference, besides the spoke count, is that these are well-laced, whereas most (and the originals) are bead-laced, as seen in Greg's picture.

Greg, it's a good thing I didn't see that a few hours ago, I know myself too well to not predict the outcome of that! If a little is good, more must be better...

KABOOM!

very...VERY...sweet!

tomnanney...I feel a silver painted wheel would look nice on Randy's as well...

Ever tried igniting ether inside the tire? No way I would be so foolish, but if it were to work, what a great You-Tube video it would make. Come to think of it, it would be a great video whether it worked or not. Disclaimer: don't do it. It may be hazardous to your health.
