So this new Midget has Wires. I have no experience with these so I'll ask you guys this question.

When I downshift or accelerate I get a 'pop' from the rear end that sounds like its coming from the tires. The PO told me that he heard that this was normal for wires. Any ideas?
 
I have never encountered this, I would check the knockoffs and the splines.
 
Check for loose suspension first (esp u-bolts)
 
Be kind of careful when braking hard until you know for sure about the splines. I had an MGB with wires and bad splines and the left front wheel left for new horizons once at a stop-light, I am kind of scared of them but when they are in good shape and oiled properly they should do very well and last a long time.

Helper springs loose and clicking as they flex to the standard springs?
 
NO! It isn't normal...I'd measure your splines in the wheels & on the hubs - she may be slipping a bit.
 
Could you swap front for rear and see if it does it? Not a solution as you do not know the status of the fronts. If it does not make the noise then you are on to something.
 
I have a front left that does this as well, and have no idea why. It's a fairy new car to me, so I'll start doing some checking. I'm curious as to what you find Ben.
 
Ohh Ben, the car is new to you, not new. hehe.
 
There are some links to the rear end that have bushings that wear out. If it isn't the wires, that is probably it.

Yep - every one of them....no matter how nice when we buy them, they're projects!
