MGA Wire Wheel Hubs For MGA

Has anyone here used the wire wheel conversion kit for the MGA that uses Triumph hubs? I have been reading about how to convert a car to wire wheels and I see that some folks are using the TR4 style hubs and spacers. It does seem to add about one inch to the track, but it allows you to use both bolt on and knock off wheels. Thanks for any advice.

Sorry everyone, I meant to ask about wire wheel adapters not hubs. The conversion that I was referring to uses TR4 adapters bolted to MG hubs.

You can use them on an MGB that has bolt on wheels. You need to buy the special nuts that hold them on, and to avoid having to saw off your studs (rendering the conversion irreversible without fitting new studs) you can have some 7/16" spacers made up.

MGB front hubs with the foregoing fitted:

Are these available on the MGB for all 4 wheels? Are they still being made? And who sells them (I have a chrome bumper MGB with bolt on wheels, would be cool to have the option to use spline hub wheels if desired.

I use the spacers on my TR4 and they are about 1/4 inch.

Probably have to double up with those then, if you didn't want to find some that are closer to the right length.

Best thing is to assemble with one shim and see how much stud sticks out past the adaptor nut.
