When you look at the wire wheel hub, the inside has a large, plug, type object with a threaded bolt sticking out. What do I do with it?

p.s. Go easy- I'm new to wires!
 
That's the dust cover over the spindle nut and bearings, the same as a regular wheel. The threaded stud is for the removal tool.

You can make one yourself from a rod coupling & a piece of screw eye that matches the rod coupling. Screw it on & yank away.
Moss has one in the catalog that seems pricey for about a buck in hardware parts.
 
I see. I can't believe I could be so confused by wire wheels! I'm having a hard time finding info about them, and when you add that I'm a chicken- I'm getting nothing done!
 
That was my problem at first but then I dove in head first and all was well. A real confidence booster if you stick with it and see the results of your efforts.
 
I am learning and getting more confidence. Right now I think my confidence level is somewhere between what you guys have in me, and the level my wife has in me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I have to say this site is invaluable!
