I need to make a new wire to connect the starter pull switch to the starter. The original one is lost so I do not know how heavy a size to use. What is the gauge of that wire?
 
Not sure of the wire gauge, but can't you just get a general-purpose replacement from a parts store? Probably easier to find, should only cost a few bucks, and it will already be made up, with connectors.
 
Not heavy at all 1/16" dia easilly big enough. If you can't find one use a bicycle gear cable. I say gear cable as these are pre-stretched, unlike brake cables.
 
Are you talking about the pull cable or the actual wire carrying current to the starter from the contact points that you engage when you pull the cable? If it is the wire carrying the power then use regular battery cable wire from a parts store, the same as you would use if replacing a bad battery cable at the battery. They sell generic ones of these in different lengths already made up or you can just buy cable by the foot and the lugs and crimp them yourself.
 
I made mine from a generic manual choke cable purchased at autozone for $6 or so.
 
I stated in my original query that I needed the wire from the switch to the starter. I want a wire to carry the battery current to the starter and apparently regular battery cable will do the job. Next stop will be a local parts store. Thanks guys.
