Wiper wheel box query???

Since its raining and supposed to for the rest of the week it reminded me that the rubber seals are gone in my wiper wheel box'es. Wondering if anyone has come up with a way to replace these? I was considering trying to force a valve stem seal over the splined end the wiper attaches to or maybe just trying to cast one in place out of RTV silicone. Any idea's???

Wiper wheel boxes, rubber seals. Really, no clue what you are refering to.
 
I have used some spare 1275 valve stem seals to replace what was in the wheel boxes.
I think I even used a cut down spark plug boot once but I'm not sure that worked.
The valve stem umbrellas work but may need some trimming on the height.
You do know that the wheel box post (spindle) can be drifted out but you will have to re-crimp it to keep it in when you are finished.
3 cross hashes with a screw driver blade seem to work, sort of what was there.
Later ones might be different, I have done Bugeyes and a 67.
Once you take them apart, it's an easy fix.
Light grease everything while they are apart too.
 
Thanks Spritenut, I'll try the stem seals. I figured a guy could repair them if they were removed. Kinda hoping to get by without taking them out of the car.

Sorry for my rudeness in not replying to your post Jack. The wiper wheel boxes are what your wipers are connected to. If you examine right at the connection you will see a rubber seal which deteriates over time. Guess I was focused when I finally got around to reading replys.

Jesh, those I have never had a problem with so never had apart. Nice to know it can be done and how.

On second thought I never drive in the wet so have no reason to use them however, they do work on Miss Agatha. Amazing.
