While waiting for the missing tie rod to show up, I am getting the TR3 set up for winter driving. The windshield frame is going to be chromed soon, the top bow is stripped and primed (waiting for a warm day to paint) side curtains are giong to be fitted before sending them to TRF for restoration. I tried to install the new wiper cable thru the casing, I hit a dead end. I think the old cable is broke off in side. Any thoughts on how to remove the old cable with out removing the casing from the car? Can it be removed with out removing everything under the dash? I guess I should have inspected the casing before I put it in the TR. DUH!!
p.s. both wiper mounts spin freely
 
My guess is that it will have to come apart anyway; might as well bite the bullet and start now. Whatever is causing the old cable to bind is still going to be there even if you do manage to get it forced out somehow; and this system is very sensitive to binding.

With the heater out of the way, it's not too bad (I hope!)

I put my re-lubed wiper cable and wheelbox asemblies back in my TR2 a few weeks ago.
Even with the heater in place it was not that hard to refit. Randall is spot on, pull it and see what's binding it up.
 
All done!! It wasn't easy but not having the steering coloum in helped alot!
I do not6 know what was pluged up all that came out was crud and not much of it. I told my wife that "We now have windshield wipers" then she said "But wheres the windshield?" picky picky
 
Dan they do get that way! Good on you for getting the wipers fixed.
 
Dan: You really should take it all out and examine the cable and wheel boxes. I learned the hard way when I ignored a badly worn wheel box. The result was the wiper arm over-shot the windscreen and put some deep scratches in the cowl. These had to be sanded out and re-painted. Chances are good that your wheel boxes are worn out and should be replaced. Good luck.

Thanks for the heads up! I did clean and inspect everything before reinstalling the unit back in the TR. I do not want to do the removal again.
