Winterization

Any tips on what I should do the ofr the winter storage of the car. It will be in a attached garage to my house. It is not heated but usually not freezing. Should I use Stabile in the tank? Should I put the car on roller's? or dolly's? or jack stands?

Anythibg else? I read a Norman Nock article that stated I should shoot some oil in each of the cylinders and turn the car over to lube the cyulinders for the long winter storage.

Thanks

If you put the car on stands, don't let the suspension hang. The oil in the cylinders is good Marvel Mystery works well, now is you can put the plugs back in a couple of turns, then you should be able to pull on the fan belt and give it a quarter turn every few weeks or so. This saves the same valves from being open all the time (rust) on valves and seats, turn the rear tires around and hit the brake and clutch a couple of times. This all takes a couple of minutes but could same you a lot of time in the spring. Wayne

Wayne again, some guys are talking about the same thing in the MG section, good advise, have a see. Wayne

would simply starting every so often (once or twice a week) and letting it run for a little while be sufficient?

Winterization in California takes on a whole new meaning...during the winter we get to drive even more than the summer...the heat coming out of the tranny tunnel...warms the car perfectly during those "chilly" evening...sorry about that...I just couldn't pass on this thread without "needling" you... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Winterization in California? OH! Don't intentionaly drive in the rain. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Joeq, Starting the car periodically is acceptable providing you allow it to come up to full operating temperature. To insure the battery condition, I suggest using the Sure Charge Four unit which will keep the battery fresh over the winter storage period.-FWIW---Keoke

He means Southern California. We have had our first snow and are expecting more tomorrow. I usually drive until they start salting the roads. You might consider a 75 watt light suspended above the car. Cheap heat.

What is winter? Here it means going for a drive without sweating to death! Just made it through many 110-115 degrees days in Phoenix and am looking forward to winter but, give me a few weeks of minimal sun and cold and I'll be wining for summer again. Each area of our beautiful country has it's +'s and -'s.

Yeah Chuck, but Phoenix is the only city in the US I know of where you can sleep under a blooming rose and freeze to death at the same time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif-Keoke Heading back up to Prescott /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
