We don't get much north America weather news here
on the island. We know a storm recently hit.

How bad was it? Who got what bad weather? And how
cold is it now- where YOU live. Status of old cars?

just curious,

tinster

News about the current weather can be found here and here.

Snow hit everywhere in the north. The Dakotas had record snowfalls, and Portland Maine tied the snow record for the day set in 1890.

But the big news is flooding in Washington State (and heavy snows in the mountains).

40° here yesterday morning, 50° this morning (just north of Daytona Beach, FL). Hardly cold though. The Miata top stays down from the mid-50s to about 80, the highs this week in the 60s and 70s are perfect.

18 this morning.
I need a remote start...

My GF has that. She puts the heat and seat-heaters on and hits the button. Kind of too much for me, 5 minutes with the seat heater on and I turn it off and toss the jacket in the back seat.

It's another weekend I nearly went to NY but the weather looks iffy on Sunday and I can't afford to get stuck.

20Âş and I awoke to the sounds of my wife's car alarm. One of the kids left the door open and with the the light on it drained the battery. I had to run outside, move all the cars around to hook up jumper cables and get it started.
My old cars, are old & cold with no remote starters or alarms but they start right up.

No complaints over th cars not starting. 50*F and warming to the mid-to-high 70's. Quite bearable compared to what a majority of youse-guys are having to deal with.

Quite nice up this way as well. Going to be 70s all next week.

24 in Clarksville.

But the sun's out! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Why, are we due snow? Or do you mean upstate?

I don't feel the cold much normally, but for some reason this morning it really hit me. I have a 20 minute drive to the train, and the temperature needle didn't move off the stop the whole way, which meant no heat at all. The seat heater is nice, but it wasn't enough this am. I *really* want a heated steering wheel now /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

There is about 8" to 12" of snow on the ground here at the moment, with more expected tonight. Temperatures in the minus digits overnight, warmed up to about 12 degrees at the moment.

My old Bimmer appreciates the fact that it can live in the garage now........

Yup... snow/sleet/freezing-rain at Newark Sunday morning and sunday night, Monday night, and Tuesday night. The weather doesn't bother me but knowing my luck everything will get screwed up in Newark.

It`s supposed to start snowing here again tonight, they {the weather men} say the Pineapple express is coming in. That usualy means a significant amount of heavy wet snow. Living on the South end of the G.S.L. {Great Salt Lake} means we COULD get a lake effect storm, meaning it MIGHT be a double whammy for us in the Tooele Valley. In preperation I spent time re instaling the snow balde on my 450 4x4 Yahama A.T.V. just in case. I`m ready, bring it on!
In case you are wondering, NO I won`t have to brave to cold to push snow with the A.T.V., my boys will fight over that job *SMILE*

It doesn't take snow to do that....

Yeah but it doesn't help either. I've only had one unexpected "extraordinary" delay out of there. Last winter my GF was supposed to leave on the first flight out of there and it started snowing - they canceled it and she ended up not getting into Orlando until 2am the next morning.

Youch.

Had a pretty decent snowfall this afternoon a few new inches were added to the good foot or more thats on the ground. Last night was brutal as it dropped down to -15f before the warm front rolled on through and brought the snow. My truck is happy that its back in the garage the MG is sitting in a barn next to farm equipment for the winter.

Remote starts are the best invention ever. Nothing like getting into a warm car when its -40 out. Suck down the gas but it beats getting into a car and having your breath put a thick layer of frost over the inside of the windshield. If you get one make sure to get the type with the remote that lets you know the car is running. Nothing worse than thinking your car is nice and warm and finding out it not.

4*F here when I left for work this AM, but had warmed to a toasty 25* when I came home. Supposed to be crappy for the weekend.
Jeff

7 deg F thismorning ,while talking to Dale while he drove , Top-down, along the coast. then I had to go scrape the ice off the car windows. Jeesh.... this is usually late January weather for us. the last few years we've had mild Decembers.

You can call here, Ben, if you want additional depressing reports. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif
