My oldest son is in a wheel chair and he loves Batman, I remember one year when he was about nine I turned his chair into the Batmobile. It only consisted of two large pieces of cardboard made up with fins and painted black with the yellow Batman insignia tied to the sides but he was happy with it.
 
My daughter is into cosplay in a big way - you see a lot of Ariel the mermaid in wheelchairs - very imaginative solution. (and sweet)

and, indeed, great idea Walter!
 
I was a new dad at the time and was still trying to win brownie points.
