Windshield wiper drive post rubber grommets

I am trying to replace the rubber grommets that seal the exterior base of the wiper drive posts on my BJ8. It appears that the chrome covers are just held in place by a nut, but after lots of liquid wrench and some relatively firm prodding I can't seem to free the nuts. Am I doing something obviously wrong in my technique or are mine just really stuck from never having been removed before?

NO peteatgr, you are not doing anything wrong I have seen them so bad that the nuts had to be cut to remove them,Perhaps just a bit more patience will yield results. You might try a product called "PB Blaster" and get better results---Keoke
