I've put 4 sets of wiper blades on the Jeep Liberty and they are junk! The blades chatter after their on for a couple months. Are the silicone blades any better? I don't use cheap blades, but it seems that makes no difference. PJ
 
Paul, I've had my best luck with Bosch blades.

That's one I haven't tried yet. Will pick up a set and see if that's the solution. Are they made in Germany? PJ
 
I've had good luck with Bosch blades as well. Good being relative, of course.
 
May not be the blades...just might be the windshield itself. Windshields pick up all sorts of garbage from the air; if water beads on your windshield it's contaminated and your blades may chatter. There used to be a terrific product put out by the No-Touch people named "Windshield Stripper" It removed everything from the window glasses and eliminated streaking and chattering. When Permatex bought No-Touch, Inc they discontinued the product. Now the best you can do is Mother's or Meguiar's "Water Spot Remover"...used only as directed. Oh...Rain-X was developed for use on the acrylic windshields of aircraft; don't use it on glass unless you want water spots and chattering.

This is my experience with a former car too. Was always amused when I'd be told "I can solve that"... and watch is not work. There were thousands of microscopic pits or bumps on the screen (from a previous owner). Never did strip the screen though.
 
Last night I remembered that my neice's husband up north uses a Rain-X product named "Extreme Clean" on the windshields of his semi to get ride of the city grime before he heads out into cleaner air where he may have to deal with rain. Claims that the stuff works miracles if he cleans both the glass and the wiper blades with it. I can't verify that as I don't have wipers on my jeep.
 
Now I am really disappointed to hear that Bosch wiper blades are now made in China. Probably should have guessed it though. Maybe time to look for an alternative.

I would be surprised if *any* wiper blades are not made in China these days, regardless of brand. Design and quality control matter far more than point of origin anymore (my Macbook was made in China, it's a very well built device).

I have a set of Bosch Icons on my Jeep, they work pretty well.

Best wipers I've had recently were on the Honda Fit I had a few years ago. Kept the factory arms and just replaced the rubber bit with factory parts. Cheap and worked really well. Wish more factory setups worked this way. The rear wiper on my Jeep is that way, but the fronts are just normal replacement bits.
 
My wipers squeaked until I cleaned the residue diesel oil of windshield. Went thru 3 sets before I broke down and cleaned windshield. Seems every time I take a trip I have to clean windshield. Lots of black residue and on wipers, looks like soot. Regular window cleaner does not work, got a glass cleaner product you use without water and wipe on polish off. Not near garage and not walking thru 3" fresh snow to look. Can post later if interested.
