Windshield shims

Hey guys, I need some info. I am missing the shims for the windshield side posts on my 71. Its number 6 on page 45 of the moss catalog on the bottom for the later model windshields. I seem to remember them being more of a cardbord than metal, but I don't know the thickness of them or if they are really needed. Any info on this would be most helpful. I would like to go ahead and get this thing mounted solid.

they are metal...
I've used washers before. And I always "slot" them to make installation easy.

The shims help locate the windscreen to the quarter lights. you'll need to use as many or few to align and keep the mounting ears from bending in.

You want to fill the gap on either end with shims to prevent stressing the windshield when tightening the fasteners. You can move the shims from side to side to adjust the fit with the quarter lights. You want equal gaps on each side with the quarter lights.

Ah, the light comes on. Now I get it. Thanks a bunch guys, gonna try to finish this tomorrow. Anyone know anything about quarter light seals to the windshield? I got the moss seals that are supposed to fit but the channel is too wide for the lips of the seal where it is supposed to slide in.
