Is there some sort of sealant that is required for windshield replacement? I noticed when I took the pillars off, there was some sort of sealant between the pillars and the frame. Is there anything that goes on the rubber for the frame.... either rubber to frame or rubber to glass?
 
Not from Abingdon, but it's a good idea to use a sealant if you expect to be driving it in any weather conditions. Built-in leaks, lovingly engineered. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif
 
There use to be some real thin clear stuff that was windsheld sealent, came with a brush in the cap and worked super. You sort of bent the rubber up a bit wiped this in and let the rubber return to shape.

Used it I bet 45 years ago.
 
So, what you fellas are pretty much saying is "don't worry about it because it is not really necessary." ??
 
Yup, it will leak on a bugeye between the cowl and the seal first or mostly. Not a big deal in any case, carry a towel if you think it is necessary.

In over 25 years of driveing a Bugeye daily to work it was never a deal.
