Hello all. 64bJ8II. I'm ready to install the winshield and wondering about the bolts that hold the posts. Do the heads show on the outside or should they be inside the cabin. Also, thinking of using 5/16 stainless fine tread. Will they be strong enough. Don't know what the grade is or if it matters there. Thank you, Roger

Heads to the outside. I zinc plated my original bolts and don't know about SS strength but I'm sure someone (cough*keoke*cough) will chime in /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cheers,
John

I think the bolt head on the outside looks better than nuts on the outside. But I noticed these photo today.

Page 159 of Anderson/Moment Restoration guide, shows a photo of the nuts being on the out side. Also page 171, top middle photo, same thing.

Is the bolt head on the inside because it is thinner than a washer/lock/nut? That area gets covered with the interior trim panel.

Any problem in the interior area guys, installing bolt head out? Cheers, Roger

Hi Roger,

I was basing the 'bolt head out' on factory photos in the Geoff Healey and Chris Harvey books and the orientation of the bolts in the Factory Parts List illustration. (I've noticed many incorrect items in the photos used in the Anderson/Moment book so it's tough to use it as an absolute guide). That said, I don't have my interior trim in place so if there is a fit problem I'll reverse the bolts. At any rate, I'm glad you are bringing it up as it helps get all the little details sorted.

Cheers,
John

mines a bn1, now given practically, which is the easiest way to attach?, would have probably been the same thought travelling through the manufacturers mind then as is now!
