Windshield Motor Maintenance

Should I be doing some maintenance on the wiper motor in my car ('59 BE)? It's works OK now, but wondered if there are parts that need to be lubricated, greased?

If it ain't broke it prob does not need fixed, hehe.

Open the top, dig out the old greese and clean up a bit and relube. Thats about it.

Relube the drive cables as well. Unbolt from motor and give a tug, cable will slide out. Clean and regrease.Slide back in.

You had better use a lightweight grease on the wheel, like a white lithium grease, do not use heavy axle grease as this will gum it all up and make it work harder!

Thanks for the tips. Something to work on in the garage.

Of course you do need to remove the wiper blades and arms before you pull the drive cable out!!!

Naw just lift off the windshield and move to the upward position and watch those babies fly when you remove the cable.
