Was new 17 years ago. Was sitting in the garage/barn. Now has a patina of what looks like mold. Rather stiff. Is it salvageable or should I spring for a new one?

I'll bet that if you bend or twist the seal it will start cracking.
Spring for a new one.
It's grueling enough to install the glass into the frame with fresh new rubber.
