MGB-GT Windshield gaskets for MGB-GT

The local windshield installer told my wife last night that he couldn't finish putting in the windshield on my 1967 MGB-GT 'cause the gasket from Moss was the wrong size (it had square corners instead of rounded, or vice versa - I got home too late to call him back). There's nothing in the Moss catalogue that indicates that different GT years had different windshields, and they only sell one type of gasket. Anyone have any experience with this problem before I call the glass folks back this morning?

Call Moss, they have an 800 number and tell them about your problem. Have the part number handy. They are usually very good about helping out. PJ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Never had a problem like that - all GT's were the same..

I've heard of others complaining about the gasket being too big. It seems the best source of GT windshield gaskets is MacGregor

Amen.

EDIT: They've also got ALL the rubber for factory hardtops.

Thanks for the input. Called Moss this evening and spoke with one of the tech guys, who admitted that the after market gaskets they sell "don't really fit that well." Wish they'd told me that when I bought it...
I'll check out McGregor.

"You'll be glad you did."

Link for McGregor pls.

That's it, I was just going to post it for you.

I'm ordering the fuzzy door seals for Binabox from them and some other bits.

Thank you, got it. Wish they had Pics on some of those items.

I noticed that too, would like some pics. Did you notice if they have a printed catalog to send out?

Was not looking but did not notice one. They did have an email address though.

I've been wondering about some of the Alfa sites too... The ones that don't show pics... But offer catalogs. Wondering if I even get pics in the catolog, or just a list of parts with a price.

Well, for me... with today's technology... If you can't have pics on your site or in a mail-order catalog (I can do them for pennies per page), then I don't want it...... Unless I already trust someone (like Tony), or unless I've been told to use them by someone who has before... word of mouth is probably still one of the most powerful marketing angles useable by the little guy....

Also probably why we ask for who to use on forums like this. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Ahhhwwwa, I was given a new windshield and rubber with my GT. All came from Moss two to three years ago. Now you tell me I have to get another rubber shield for the car?????

I don't know why - I've not had problems

I've ordered from McGregor before and have been very satisfied with the quality. I even got a phone call from Mr. McGregor himself a few weeks later asking if I had any problems. Besides, he has a rich british accent...

Oh Gooodie, gooodie! At least something positive for this week. Show down to 1000' feet. Doesn't seem like much but in an area that the CHP use radial tires to determine if a road is passable then it's a pain.
