Windshield alignment quarter light issue

Ok I've had a great day. Recovered the metal portion of the dash put the freshly polished windshield with new glass on and 5 of the 6 bolts went no problem last one is being a pain of course. I have run into an issue. The driver side quarter light matches the outside edge of the windshield frame however the pass side is to far in and rubs on the flange of the windshield post. The rubber weather striping has not been installed. Is there an adjustment that would allow me to move the qlight frame outwards? yes I plan on replacing the quarterlight at some point in the future.

Yes...you can adjust the quarterlights somewhat. This involves taking of the interior trim panel and loosening the windo assembly (you may also need to adjust the rear channel.) Check to see if you can loosen the bottom retaining bolt and slide the channel in towards the interior side of the doo....this should bring the upper portion of the vent assembly to the outside of the car. I doubt seriously if you've bent the vent channel...a simple adjustment is all you probably need.

I would not make any of these adjustments until you have installed the windscreen to quarterlight seals.

I would also not completely tighten the windscreen to the body until you can align both vent assemblies and the windscreen.

Time consuming, but worth the effort...especially in the avoidance or the Crack of Doom.

:iagree:

I just noticed....is the hinge on your vent window broken?!

Yep hence the last line on the post. I've got a good spare but its been down the list of things to do as I dont feel like taking the door apart quite yet but it will happen at some point as all the door seals are shot plus I would like to get the old mirror holes filled and the upper section of the door repainted. But that a much later project.

Well its better than it used to be but I still have some alignment issues to figure out. Pass side is pretty much set and with the qlight moved as far out as it would go gave me slightly less than an 1/8" clearance and the gap is now even along the windshield.

Drivers side is still somewhat funky. Its slightly tight at the bottom and slightly open at the top and thats the best I've been able to get so far.

I'd hate to do this with the dash in.

Perhaps a silly question, but is the door aligned and straight?

It looks like it has a little bend to it maybe.

looks like the door might be partly open in that shot (instead of misaligned).

Looks like the door is partly opened, yes. But.... It also looks like f he closed the door all the way then kablooey.
