I need to replace my windscreen. The new ones in the catalogues run about $450. Seems a bit pricey to me. Just wandering if I take to old one to an auto glass company could I get one made for a TR3A for a more reasonable price?
 
I agree that seems pricey, but it has been a long time since I bought one.

As for having one made - I would be surprised if this is doable as it is laminated safety glass and it is curved, not flat.
 
You should be able to get it cheaper, the Roadster Factory has them listed for around $200
 
eBay has them in the $120 range , but I don't know what they look like, or what shipping will be.
 
When you get to the angle irons in the lower corners, watch for the screw head style. It may be flat, Phillips, or torq. If it looks like Phillips, but has 4 tic marks between the cross, it is a special and needs the " torq" #2 bit. Phillips will make mess of same. Some lube may be a must.

Harbor Freight sells a bit kit that includes a full range of PoziDriv tips - use with the included adaptor and your 1/4" drive ratchet or driver handle.

The PoziDriv's are the bottom row of the lid -- includes several #2s.

If you get one from British Victoria, check the bottom corners very carefully. The one I got from them had a big pointed sharp edge, and the bottom corners are too short or too rounded off and did not go all the way down into the frame. So after it was installed it left a small gap at each bottom corner. I had to fill the gap with sealant. Not good if you have a show car.

I bought a set of Bosch bits at Lowes in their soft case and it had a full set of PoziDriv bits...I think it was $7-$8.
