Windscreen washer reservoir strap

In preparation for painting the engine compartment I finally addressed the deformation of the holes in the bulkhead for mounting the windshield washer reservoir (green arrows). I wondered how this could have happened, and if it was by design, but when looking a the bracket I saw the remnants of rivets. Seems to me at one time I lost it and for what ever reason pull the bracket off.

Anyway, I digress, after correcting the damage I caused in a prior life, I looked at the strap. It has deteriorated to the point of being useless.

So I ask the community, what material have you used to effect a repair?

No help here. I bought a brand, spanking new washer bottle, pump and strap from TRF a few years ago. Looks great, except for the blasted strap. It disintegrated within 3 years and is now a piece of sticky rubber. Guess they duplicated it too well. Including the foam seat beneath the bottle. Gotta be a better way.

The wife said for all the money I spend on that car, what's another $30 for a bracket. Whew, glad I didn't now hearing from you that the strap and foam deteriorates in three years and looking forward to her reminding me that I should have fixed the old one.

Maybe I will just buy a couple of these.

One for soap and one for rinse.

The holes in the bulkhead there really threw me for a loop, too, when I went to replace the washer mounting hardware (I used a new one too, rather then repair).

This picture may shed some light... I think the "extra" holes were for the right hand drive cars, as the break servo would have been mounted there.

Rear license plate mounting screws

On one of my list of things to do was to figure out how to avoid using sheet metal screws to hold the rear license plate on. Well it turns out that the rawl nut and screws used to hold the windshield washer reservoir will do the job just fine. Only wish I had ordered four more then the three I did.

Lowes and Hd have them.

Re: Rear license plate mounting screws

Alright! Thanks. Beats the big three and shipping.
