Windscreen seal installation problem.

I purchased a windscreen to shroud seal from moss and was able to get it into the channel. When I attempted to install the windscreen the mounting bolts lined up with the holes however when they were cinched down there was a gap of approx. 1/4" below the outside edge of the frame. I mounted the seal with the narrow edge toward the interior.

Can anyone help with this problem, why it is happening & what to do about it?

Thank you,

Robert

The solution I came up with was to use a 3-m windshield glass sealant, taping right up to the channel on the windshield frame & shroud, filling the channel with sealant, setting the window in place, bolting it down and smoothing the exterior sealant with a rag dipped in laquer (sp) thinner. It looks suitable, although a bit shiny when wet. I don't know yet if the shine disappears when dry but an added advantage is that you can fill the large gap on either end where the shroud, door pillar and fender come together. The rubber seal does nothing to fill this gap, thus leaving a rather large hole.
