Windscreen frame holes

Can anyone tell me why there is a hole in the frame, next to each of the latch escutcheons? Should they be plugged or are they there for a purpose? Here's what I'm talking about: the hole on the right.

This is what the stainless trim looks like finished and there are plugs, so I'm gonna guess that they're for the hard top mounting?

Uh, Paul?

Upon inspecting your car's interior photo,
it appears yet another blunder on my part.

I installed pleather, interior door panels
on my car.

Lord I cant go a-home this a-way.

Dale,

You don't like my clear plastic "see through" door trim panels?

Those are for the serious car guys who just have to know that the window regulator and door latch are working "just" right.........

Hard top mounting: makes sense! Thanks. I will insert some plastic plugs.

Paul
What was the clear plastic used for your door panels?
If I remember right it was heat shrunk on, giving it a very nice final appearance.
What sticks it down? Does it use a glued edge?

Nort,

I'm just busting Dale a bit. The heavy duty plastic was cut to fit as a vapor barrier to prevent moisture and water from hitting it.

After the shape is right, spray 3M Trim adhesive on the door (outlining where the plastic will fit) and let it set up for a few minutes. When tacky, apply the plastic and go around it with a heat gun or hair dryer. It smooths everything out and drys the adhesive to a nice smooth water tight fit.

Then the trim panels go on for the finished look.

Julian I have an extra set of plugs if you need them.

That would be lovely ... I was wondering if I could just find some suitably sized plugs at the hardware store?

Give it a shot and if you need them PM me.
