Windscreen and top fitment issue

Its seems my windscreen frame has been bent in, not allowing the top bar to fit into it and pops out. I've been brainstorming how to bend it out without messing up the glass, and how to bend it out so its consistent with no high and lows. Thoughts?

Wow, that's a mystery! I think I would try a pipe clamp corner to corner close to where the lift the dot studs are. What ever you do, do it carefully or you could end up needing a new windshield.

The glass is replacement, don't know the supplier. Any chance the arc differs from original glass? The frame is in quite nice condition, can't see it being bent. Would love to find original glass to put in the car anyhow.
 
I find a slightly open adjustible wrench is very helpful for massaging slightly bent metal. Open basically the thickness of the metal

You may have a point about the manufacture of the glass. Can you find another BE close by to compare?

No unfortunately, the closest one I know of is a couple hours away.

It is curved.....I'd love to see other people's pics from a similar view to see the arc of other windshields.

Just snapped this pic, couldn't find any of these numbers online, but it is stamped 1967. Have no idea what that is in reference to. MKIII?

I also was thinking that the windshields were flat, but after really looking at my original glass car it has an curve to it like yours.

I have one of each and now I'm curious. I'll have a look tomorrow but I don't think its possible to fit the later screen. In which case I think I would try the pipe clamp.

Think I'm at the point to find a screen/frame that is together, has the proper gaps, and purchasing that.
 
I thought mine was flat, but, its been in storage for a few years. Dug it out this morning, and its has a shallow bow of about 11/16" (~17mm).

That sounds about right Dan. They all have some curve, just flatter than most other vehicles.

I just got home and measured mine with a 4' straight edge and it does curve in about an inch on each side when the straightedge is held in the middle. Along the top the straight edge misses the studs in each upper corner about 1/16"...sorry for the misinformation!
