So, my old laptop I used to connect to the V and play TV shows and movies failed about a month ago. Went and got a new one since the failure was the board. Got a Windows 11 and so far, not impressed. First, if you get one make sure you get the version that allows you to install other stuff that you didn't buy through the Microsoft store. The one they pushed first here required all software additions be purchased exclusively there. They sold another version that allowed outside software, but cost a $100 more. Once using it, found the mouse pointer jumps across the screen, had to do some digging found that there is a flag in the mouse setting to make it do that, supposed to be easier than scrolling across the screen. Problem is, it jumps right across to the other border so then you have to go back, which might jump to the other side. Turned the flag off.
Still have annoying issues. The mouse will freeze in a spot for anywhere from a couple seconds to a minute or so. Then jump around instead of just moving. Other times, works ok. When I play a video, sometimes it just stops the picture version and the sound keeps going. Sometimes both will stop for a minute or two then continue. It turns off the external drive where the TV/movies are as it is playing then has to stop to restart. When booting most of the time starts in less than a minute, but sometimes never starts. Doesn't give an error, just doesn't give the little startup revolving symbol. Let it go once, 10 minutes later still hadn't moved from the initial screen when it was turned on. Required a hard shutdown and try again, then it worked.
So as a review, I'm not impressed with it, and I've had for work and personal use Windows machines since Win 3.2. Maybe the laptop is underpowered or needs more memory. Maybe other hardware improvements or capacity. I just don't know, but wanted to share what I've seem over the last few weeks so if you're considering it you have my experiences to factor in.
