Window woes

I'm having trouble with my passenger side window. It seems to want to jump out of its track on the leading edge when I roll it down. I can't quite figure out what the solution is except that maybe the window itself needs to be seated tighter into its support "tray" so that it can't tilt enough to jump its track. If that is the case, how does one get it to stay in there? If it's not the case, what is the solution? Anyone out there with similar experience? As always, TIA.

It's a friction fit into some kind of sticky tar-like glazing in the lower channel ("tray"). If the glazing is old, it's not too hard to pull the glass right out of the door.
I suspect your problem might be the side window channels. They can be adjusted somewhat to fit tighter or looser on the glass.
Make sure that "tie rod" that connects the bottoms of the side window channels is still in place, too.
Once you remove the door panel, you'll get an idea how things work and how to make adjustments.

I had the panel off, and everything looks okay. I don't see where the adjustable points are. Would I somehow slide the tie rod higher up the channel so as to pull it in slightly?

There's some adjustment on the bottom of the window channels. See the bolt that goes thru the door and into the channel bottom ?
The hole in the door is oval or "oversize" to allow for adjustment.
If I recall there is a ridge on the window channel (maybe just rear one) that determines the height of the tie rod.
I'm pretty sure you'll have to make the window channel tighter using the oval holes and bolt thatI mentioned.

Thanks Poolboy! I'll try that.

It turns out that just moving the tie rod up was all it took and it seems pretty solid. I'll cross my fingers. While I'm in there and have the door panel off, any recommendations for, or contraindications against, lubing the channel for smoother operation? (not the channel that the glass slides in, but the channel where the lifting mechanism slides in the base of the window)
