Window seals

I'm ready to reinstall all of the door 'innards' and believe I remember some talk of window seals under the door cap to be a real bear, and possibly had made a tool. Anybody reading this fought that battle before?

Get monkey fingers.

I made a tool - don't know where it is just now but basically was shaped like this - sit the clip in it and then pull up. Mine actually was short so I used vice grips to pull with.

Yes, remember there is a sequense to the reassembly. I believe you can fit the outer before you slide the window glass in place but not both of course. My tool looked closer to a "j" without much of a short leg on it. Used 1X1/8" steel strap. On second thought I don't remember the exact sequence--just the window has to be in the door. Good luck, I played around with the reassembly for quite a while, as I remember before I got it right.

When I took it all apart the seals were shot and almost fell off; I know it won't be that easy going back!

with the tool it's not bad at all - I do believe the glass needs to be in and, you might want to stuff a rag down the bottom of the door to catch the clips when they fall

You need to take a valium or visit a house of worship before you start that one. If you get it on the 16th try you are way ahead of the game. Is the door off the car? If it is then you might could work it from upside down and do better. It was a bear

Yee-haw, you guys make it sound fun. I guess it'll be like everything else, a good learning experience. By the time you're almost proficient- it's done! Doors are off and the upside-down thing is novel.
