Window Seals: fitting

I have a pair of new outer side window seals for Harold. With the window fully rolled down, and the door toppers removed, there doesn't seem to be enough space to remove the old seals.

Is there a trick to fitting new seals without removing the window glass, or do I need to "bite the bullet"?
 
It is hard to get to the rivets holding the seals in place to drill them out - it'll be even harder to install new rivets....down at the bottom of the door, there's a piece of metal that can be removed to allow the window to drop about 1/2" lower than normal....you might try that.
 
Thanks Tony ... the seals seem to be both riveted and fixed in place by rectangular spring clips. Seems like overkill to me!

I think it depends on the year... the metal block at the bottom of the door that limits downward travel was welded in place on my '74 B convertible. I had no choice but to pull and replace the regulators and glass. Its one of those jobs that takes about 4 hours the first time and 20 minutes every time after, once you figure out the tricks.
 
Yup. R&R window glass... You'll think you've encountered a Mechano set gone mad. Once ya get the first one conquered the other will be easy. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
