TR4/4A Window Channels

I stripped the window and lock linkage etc from my doors and saw the front and back channels that hold the glass in as it goes up and down do no have any remaining "fuzz" in them. I also see that that fuzz is not available to purchase. I feel it should have it and was wondering what you guys were using? Also what are your thoughts on that nasty plastic curtain that is in there> Does it actually work - is it needed? As probably with all of them after time mine are there but are dirty, torn and seem like they just wad up. Bruce
 
You can also buy new window channels. I got a set from TRF several years ago.
 
I bought some generic window slide liner on ebay a few years back when doing my TR250. Much less expensive than the whole slide, but can't find them now, something might be available with a little searching. I highly recommend doing the job, car will feel well built rather than like a bucket of bolts everytime you hit a bump.

I think the curtain is meant to keep water of the interior door panels, if your car leads a sheltered life should be fine and not missed.
 
EasyRider - I think I like what is shown in the Danielson tutorial. It looks easy enough and cheap at that. I see also on glemon advice that Moss does sell liner just not listed for the TR4A specifically. Still on the fence on the plastic curtain maybe I will just leave it in even though it is not in great shape. Thanks - This is what I needed guys!! Bruce
 
I bought whole new assemblies from TRF; the plastic bits at the top of the channels had some wear in addition to the fuzz.

The new assembly is a bit tiddly (is that a word?), as the old and new parts may not be *identical*. (Not sure how much of a difference there is. With new parts, it was much more difficult to wind the window. I am doing a good bit of tweaking of the retainer rod at the bottom to get the window to slide properly. Still working on it!)
 
I just don't see the need to replace the channels themselves when all I need is new fuzz. So speaking of the retaining rod at the bottom Mike here is one of those embarassing things that happen. I thought I would clean up the various parts so just held the rod up to the wire wheel on the bench grinder and took my attention away just long enough to allow it to catch and end up wrapping itself around the spindle so now the job is to straighten it and hope it is still the proper length. Sometimes this is nothing more than pure fun!!! Bruce
