Actually, rob, they are...if your 'boot' ripped, it had shrunk over time.

hmmm... nah, not ripped. It fit over the tonneau bar just fine, but the convertible top boot cover doesn't sit as neatly with the bar on. That may be because the elastic stay straps on the boot cover aren't very elastic anymore... heh

I mentioned the weird way my boot cover sits on the tonneau bar a while back and someone mentioned it was because they weren't supposed to be used together. IIRC, I was told the tonneau bar was supposed to be used only with the tonneau... heh

When you put the boot over the lowered top & then install the bars, make usre you pull those elastic strpas down to snap into the pins on the edge of the battery shelf.

My top cover fits fine over the tonneau bars. It's an original part, not a reproduction though. Maybe the originals fit better? I think it was bought from an MG dealership in the 70s.

yeah... I do that, but there's still tons of slack when I do, even with the bar in place. The elastic is just too shot.

Elastic is an esy thing for an upholstery shop to replace.

Or yourself with a nice sewing machine... or a cheap one, with nice line in it.

Thanks to all for the replies. I may wait. I really like to use my tonneau rail with my top cover.

I had the straps replaced on my cover for $10, all 4 straps. In fact, I've bought some greay vinyl I'm going to have made into bags for my top, my windblocker and my top frame rails at the same place.
