"Will you still need me..."

I passed it about three years and a few days hence.

And apparently Mits is ~tolerant~ of my survival. :smirk:

I refereed a soccer game of 20 somethings last week and was told I was the "oldest thing on the field".... bah humbug I can still run and know the game :eagerness:

The real deal is to keep 'em guessing, Elliot!

I've told some they need to think they've been hit with a rabid spider monkey.

Most calmed down.

...others have suffer'd th' consequences. :smirk:

Still, I want to know how one can be handy "mending a fuse?"

I also was a youth soccer referee some years ago. Quit after three years in disgust. Couldn't take the abuse from parents - most of whom didn't know the offside and advantage rules - and the cheating of one coach who put back a player I had sent off with a red card for rough play - with another numbered jersey. Plus a local ref got his jaw broken the same weekend. As one parent said to me after a game - "I didn't know your middle names was M---F--er". Incredible.

Thanks Doc, for the Birthday song! By the way, my birthday (Aug 2nd) happens to be the actual date that the Declaration of Independence was signed.

At one time in some areas, house "fuses" were just lengths of fuse wire connected to terminals in the fuse block. To "mend" a fuse, one removes the old, melted wire; cuts a length of new wire from the spool; and mounts it to the terminals.

But I think more likely this is just British vs American idiom. Or maybe Paul McCartney j2ust thought it scanned better or whatever. To quote a different artist "I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear."

WOW! And I thought you were much younger than that!

Aha! An English friend told me once but I couldn't remember. Makes perfect sense. Thanks!

Had it played at my wedding. Unfortunately, the answer was no.
