I had to pull a Buick straight 6 with auto out of a TR3 I bought once that some kid had hotrodded. The PO kid had also cut the cruciform frame box out. I've still got the frame if your interested?

Does anybody recall (that is if I'm managing to remember it correctly) an April fools story in Road & Track from 1971, where some body man built this mock up straight 12 cyl E-type with the appropriately lengthened hood. My dear, but semi cruel brother sends me this copy and I'm sitting there in the middle of nowhere in a certain SE Asian country suckered in by the whole article till I got to the punch line. That's what this engine reminds me of.
