I've got the wiring right on the old style distributer cap with an igniter on my BJ8. My new problem is that the engine will not rev over 1200 rpm. Is it the cap or the carbs/float?

"Monkey" faced cap?? Which cap is that? The side loader or the top loader?

Jeff at Advanced Distributor recommends the "top loading" plug in caps for use with the Pertronix ignition due to problems with the original style cap cross firing. I've used both styles of cap with no problems.
BTW: He also sells the "good" rotors that "work".

Did this problem just happen or was other work being done to your engine before this?
