Hello all,

I am pulling the trigger on the 1957 MGA Coupe tomorrow and I know there will be questions galore.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

We all ask them all time. Just keep asking away... and post some pictures. We love pictures!

Good luck with your purchase!

If he did the number of posts to this forum would dwindle drastically, buy a good manual if you don't already have one, see if that helps and if you still have questions blast away, excellent and most very patient resources on this forum--MGA Coupe is a Kewl Kar.

My own stupid question, pull the trigger? Buying, starting for the first time after long storage, starting for the first time after a rebuild, shooting the darn thing out of frustration?

Steve, all of your questions are welcome here. And, don't worry: if folks got kicked off for "stupid" questions I'd been gone about 5 years ago.

You are very lucky indeed to own a '57 MGA coupe, a most beautiful and rare car. Not only are MGAs a good investment, but they're tons of fun to drive and own.

Please, if at all possible, include photos of your restoration effort. It's for us here, and for the world to see!

And, don't stop asking questions . . .

Psst - don't let on that the coupe is so much better than the raodster or prices will go up......

Good luck with the restoration.

steve,

Good luck on starting your project. The MGA is a thrill to drive.

Don't forget to start a Project Journal for your project.

I use a bound note book for each of my projects (mga, two bugeyes and my dodge dakota.) This is a great place to put photos of your progress, discriptions of what you are working on, how to reassemble components, frustrations, jubilations, etc.
basically all the info about your project that you will probably forget in a few years if not a few weeks.
I can't tell you how much I refer to it.

I haven't heard much on this topic so since you are about to dive in I thought I would briing it up.

I am sure lots of us use them and wish we started them earlier. Seeing your project in notebook form as an on going biography of a loyal friend is the way i look at it.

Good luck and stay positive.

Don't worry about asking questions. That is what this forum is designed to assist. Relaying information and knowledge about British Cars. We share our knowledge and experiences.

The only ones that I know that have been ejected have been because of combative arguments. Not anything to do with British Cars. Some people let their egos rule their responses.

So as long as you don't become combative or make unfounded derogatory statements about others, you should enjoy this forum..

Thank you all. I expect that I shall learn much.

From Monroe to Kaneohe - I cannot go wrong.

My Coupe is in pieces and I look forward to what happens next. My TR3 was a barn find and this was a club member's dream project. Now we will see.

Pictures will follow - the idea of a notebook has been sissyfied by the wife. She has a scrapbook store and I have groupie's of my wife who will assist in their way with the restoration.

Color me excited.
