TR6 Will all TR6 seats fit in a TR4A?

I am in the process of installing 3-point seat belts in my TR4A. While I was figuring out where to drill my holes, it dawned on me that having a headrest would be another nice safety add-on.

It appears that the seat rails are the same for the 4A/250/6. Is it safe to assume that any version of the TR6 seats will bolt right in?

I plan to keep my 4A seats, so they could go back in if I decided to sell the car etc. However, I would like to install some 6 seats with the headrests for the time being.

Can't think of any reason why not. The centre of a TR4 and a TR6 are essentially the same.

I think the seat tracks are slightly different Ian based on a conversation had with Tony Drews, but there is one way to find out. The seats themselves will fit just fine.

For what ever it is worth I do worry about the low back seats as well for active road use. Just me, not casting any judgements....

They have the exact dimensions to fit the rails. The TR250 has a "third" seat belt attachment point at the top of each rear wheel well.</span></span></span>

Good luck!

Thanks for the info all. It seems odd to me that I couldn't find much info on this when I ran a search or two...

Now on to the search for decent TR6 seats!

What happened to the gentleman who was rear-ended in his TR3 not long ago? Didn't he have low-back seats? I worry too.

If the TR4, TR250 and TR6 seat rails are all exactly the same, then the Miata seat rails conversion that Uncle Jack and Sean Alexander made will also fit all those models. I know that Sean and Jack Alexander are trying to determine that now. So are we saying that all of the floor mounting holes with the blind nuts are exactly the same for all 3 cars with regard to location?

Moss lists that all 3 (4A,250,6) use the same floorpan. If so, then the captive nuts would likely be in the same locations.

Ian - they'll fit in OK based on my measurements but not with much room to spare. There are several options for getting seat covers for them, and local upholstery shops are often less expensive than the kits from the Big 3.

Ian............that's an excellent price for either the TR6 seats or the Miata seats. If you go with the TR6 seats you're looking at $500+ for vinyl covers or $850+ for leather. Miata covers in leather will cost you $300+ on eBay and $200 in synthetic. I got my Miata leather covers on eBay for $300. and the headrest speakers for $100. It all depends on the look you want and what will fit.
