Two cars.....Both pretty crazy.

Obviously hillclimb in the UK is even more no-holds-barred than it is in the US.

Love the first car with a turbocharger driven by a helicopter APU. 43 psi of boost. Plus no turbo lag!

See picture below.

Pheeeeeyewwww! that coupe hit 60 MPH in 1.8 seconds! hot dang! I'd love a ride in either one... That open car has quite the sound to it dosent it?

i'd like to see them in the wet.

And a lot of the hillclimbs are really short -
- 45 seconds,or something like that.Ours in the Western US
are usually right around 2 miles.

One of the most pleasant motoring days in the calendar is the Vintage Sports Car Club meeting at Prescott hill climb, in Gloucestershire, not far from where I was born.
Google VSCC Prescott for a flavour, and you'll see that the hillclimb special has a long and glorious history.
Watch this , for example, and there are some super cars including glimpses of the Lightweight Special, created by Alec Issigonis with George Dowson, before he went on to Morris Minors, and Minis and things.

If you'd like to see some history of hillclimbing, The Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association has a great website with excellent archives.

The section on Those Great Specials... is particularly good.

Also good stuff on The Women of Hill Climbing.... , Weatherly Big Air Club.... , etc.

Here's a typical picture on the site.
It shows a gal in the 1960 "getting air" in her Lotus at Weatherly

This is my favorite. Pikes Peak. After driving this road a few times, I guess I just appreciate it more by knowing the dangers these guys face. No guard rails 99% of the way and part asphalt and part dirt. Quite a rapid change in driving technique.
