Wife's new iMAC

My wife's computer has been an older Dell PC. She was always complaining about how slow it was and how long it took to "boot" and to just open her email program. So, for our 33rd anniversary (today) I bought her a new iMAC! Definitely a difference in speed, but its going to take some getting used to for her. Overall I'm impressed with teh iMAC and may get one for myself later.

Happy Anniversary!

Not a comment about the iMac, but... if you have a slow-booting windows machine consider putting it in standby rather than turning it off. "boot" time is nearly instant.

Standby does require some power to retain the memory, but if you have the "hibernate" option available - use it. I haven't rebooting my Toshiba laptop in ages. Starting from hibernate is about 15 seconds, and requires no power.

Happy anniversary, Boss! Hope your wife likes the new Mac.

I think she will once she gets used to it. Right now its a huge change in how to do things.

My wife was a life-long Windows user, but when she started here at the school district as a secretary, she had to make the switch to a Mac. Went pretty smoothly, just a question of finding where the Apple folks put the buttons.

Sometimes I think that Microsoft and Apple put things in different places just to be different, not for any particularly good reason.
