TR2/3/3A Why?

Saw one of these Cobras while dining outside at Blind Charlie's in Scotts Corner, NY last Saturday. The owner - a 30-something guy - got in and before he fired it up, he put in EARPLUGS. I guess when you own one of these with sidepipes, you'd better use earplugs or face deafness. What a racket.

There is a lot of kit cobra,s out there. I would love to have one. But there is only a very few TR3 "cobras". If I had $60,000 I would take the TR3!

One of my best Buds from my childhood has a Factory Five Cobra - looks, sounds and runs AWESOME.....but I wouldn't trade it for my 3A!

In Graham Robson's "The Triumph TRs", there is a picture of a factory prototype called a "Beta". It was a widened TR3A body on a TR4 chassis. Of course, it never went into production.
Berry

This year's winner of the Kastner Cup, Greg Blake, runs a home-built version of a Beta - he put a 3A body on a TR4 chassis and widened the fenders to accomodate. It seems to have worked well!
